Titti Totem 2022

I embarked on my first exploration of totems in the Summer of 2022 when I was invited to create an art work for a group show titled Sexy* at Objective Gallery in NYC. This was the first iteration of this totem exploration that would then become the Lotus Series in 2023/2024.

The piece explores a deconstructed female shape, with shapes reminiscent to a neck and shoulders, breasts, and hips. Inspired by the title of the show, the highlighting of these shapes are alluding to the life giving aspect of the great animist Mother who provides us with the life giving waters, air, and earth that are essential for a ceramic artist’s practice.
